Leaving your student accommodation over the winter break

Christmas Tree display at student accommodation

Before you pack up and say your goodbyes, there are a few things to check to ensure that your student accommodation is in tip top condition whilst you are gone.  Not only will this help save on energy, it means you won’t return to out-of-date food or bin bags that needed throwing out!

We’ve pulled together a quick check-list for you to make sure you have a surprise-free return in the new year.

  • Turn lights and electric heaters off, turn down radiators, close and lock windows and unplug all non-essential electrical appliances e.g. chargers, microwaves.
  • Turn all taps off – no-one wants to receive that call!
  • Empty and clean the fridge / freezer – not only will this make your appliances work more efficiently by using less energy, but you will avoid coming back to a smelly surprise!
  • Clean!  There is nothing worse than returning from a lovely Christmas break to find out-of-date food and old bags of rubbish.  So before you go, empty the fridge and collect all the rubbish and put out the bins ready for collection.  While you’re at it, take the Christmas decs down!

Don’t forget to tell us when the last person in your cluster is leaving, and when we can expect you all to return.

Have a safe journey home and we look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year!
